Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy houses the sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. As one of the most revered Buddhist sites in the world, this historic temple blends spirituality, Kandyan architecture, and living tradition in a deeply moving cultural experience.
The tusker who piously carried thecasket of Sacred Tooth relic for about a half century is afirst rated national asset. The tusker having died onthe6th July 1988, was recreated for exhibition to futuregenerations following the cremation.
agul Maduwa or hall of ceremony gains a prominent place among wooden structures in the Kandyan period. According to historical sources, the structure was built by Rajadhi Rajasinha (1783 A. D).
